rommegrøt, sand-bakkle, smørbrod, sotsuppe

Summer kicks off with the ANNUAL FROLIC (May 29-31, June 1). Come and enjoy rides, games, music and a wonderful parade.
On July 19 and 20 we host the 37th ANNUAL ART FAIR. Over 100 artists and crafters line Main Street on this festive weekend to sell their creations to the public. You’ll find everything from rosemaled items to paintings to pottery in downtown Mount Horeb.
FIRE MUSTER, held Saturday, August 23, is sponsored by the Mount Horeb Volunteer Fire Department & Emergency Medical Service. This interesting fund raising event helps them maintain one of the finest departments in the country.
As autumn color begins to show, you will enjoy our 27th annual FALL HERITAGE FESTIVAL, held October 4 and 5. This annual event features live music, folk art demonstrations, a display by the Historical Society, and much more. Come buy produce right off the farm truck. Take a horse and buggy ride around the block, and enjoy fall color.
Vennelag 513 will have their seventh annual Høst Frokost, or Norwegian Fall Breakfast on October 4. The breakfast will be held at the Mount Horeb Area Community Center and is open to the general public. The event, held in conjunction with the Mount Horeb Fall Festival, gives the opportunity to share Norwegian culture and heritage with friends and neighbors. The menu can consist of such items as Norwegian pancakes, heart waffles with lingonberries, aebleskiver, soft or hard-boiled eggs, rollepølse, lefse, breads, ham, dried beef, salami, cheeses, herring, salmon, fruit salad, flavored Victor Allen coffees, and Norwegian cookies and cakes.
Hospitality is at its finest when merchants begin the Christmas holiday season during our annual HOSPITALITY DAY, November 8. The village is decorated in Christmas greenery and white lights. Merchants serve typical old-world treats as you shop. Special event weekends in Mount Horeb are always fun, but remember that Mount Horeb is a great place to visit any time.
